I am seeking a Planning Electrical Engineer for a locally owned electric distribution system headquartered in Manassas, VA.
What you will be doing:
Develop scopes of work and design transmission, substation, and distribution upgrades.
Complete work request tasks, system coordination studies, and system capacity studies.
Assist in the preparation of short-range and long-range engineering studies and the corresponding plan documentation.
Complete electrical system studies and make recommendations.
Assist in the design of electric facilities or substations.
Review construction work orders to ensure adherence to plans and policies.
Develop short-range and long-range plan projects and programs from system studies.
Investigate and analyze routine permanent and momentary outages.
Manage several projects and assignments simultaneously.
Provide technical support to field personnel during project implementation.
Train, guide, and mentor lower-level engineers.
Provide technical support to the System Operations department.
Experience you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Two to five years of related experience in planning, designing, constructing, and operating utility electric systems.
Understanding SCADA and outage management, protection and control, metering, and substation and distribution design.
Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment.
Knowledge of all company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to respond to changing business needs.
Knowledge of power engineering principles and theories.
Ability to carry out delegated work with some supervision.
